Data Science Internship at TITSA

During the final months of my Computer Science degree, I had the opportunity to intern as a Data Scientist at TITSA, a leading transportation company in the Canary Islands. This allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world challenges and see the impact of my work in action.

Challenges

I worked on projects that directly influenced operations and customer satisfaction. Here’s what I worked on:

1. Optimizing Transportation Routes with Advanced Algorithms
   I implemented a path-routing algorithm, based on time complexity. It was based on the current routing and the demand of clients in realtime.

2. Predicting Customer Behavior with Machine Learning
   I trained machine learning models that confidently rate the prediction of customer behavior as time series prediction. These models helped predicting the yearly revenue for the company because we applied the expected supply for the demand.

3. Streamlining Data Analysis with a Python API
   I engineered a Python server API that improved communication with our SQL Server, reducing data transfer latency. This API was used in the automation of data analysis processes, and the map based path-algorithms.

Lessons Learned

I learned how to balance technical innovation with practical business needs, and collaborate with diverse teams.
